I'm surprised no one has pointed out that you can buy 'blessings' in this game. I don’t know what to make of winning 54% in face to face play-that 4% better than total random chance so it’s more a reflection that you are playing a group that is close to you in strength more than anything. But online, I’m playing against people who have a keener interest in the game, and then within that the people who are willing to spend money or earn their way to higher tiers are still a stronger breed of player. I’m the only person of that group who has read so much as a sentence of theory or gone through a game analysis. My over the board experience involves either playing my buddy over drinks or my wife humoring me. It also sounds like OP is encountering different tiers of play. They could just impose a table take that would take coins out of circulation over time. They could sneak in strong bots to steal some coins away from you with unrigged dice. Or why does the website want you, and not your opponent, to lose? If they can rig the dice, why not sell you the rigged dice? They could charge you a dollar to give you favorable dice-plenty of people would buy such a thing if they could. You will find that the computer still seems unnaturally lucky-a better backgammon player will just appear luckier than you. Set it to manual dice inputs, so you roll your own physical dice on the computer’s behalf and tell the computer what you’ve rolled. First is an experiment you can conduct yourself-play against a strong free AI like GnuBG. There are a couple reasons why I am skeptical of such claims. It is rarely substantiated statistically (if you can download your game records, software like ExtremeGammon can do a chi-square analysis). It is generally presented anecdotally (one time I fanned three times even though the opponent had only blocked one home board point!).

Respectfully-the rigged dice allegation is leveled against every online backgammon website. I don’t play on Live and am skeptical of giving money to any BG website more for fear of being sandbagged by a Bot.
